As was mentioned in the previous post, John David is officially out of his swaddle and continues to sleep through the night without issue. He may protest a little but within a matter a minutes he is sound asleep for the night. It makes night time so easy and since he is in bed between 8:00 and 8:15 Mom and Dad get to eat dinner together most nights. Naps, which once came so easily, are now a bit of a challenge without the swaddle. He will only stay asleep for a max of 30 minutes before he is awake either screaming and laughing and playing in his crib. This has made for a long week for Mom but we are hanging in there and I know he will get the hang of it.
John continues to be an extremely happy baby, laughing and smiling constantly. He loves to be tickled and giggles out loud when you make him clap his hands and move is legs. He is very happy on his tummy and continues to roll from tummy to back and is showing signs of rolling from back to tummy. He can sit up on his own when placed in the position for a couple minutes without tipping to one side. John is a drool monster and we anticipate teeth in a near future. Gigi bought him an exersaucer which has become a big hit and he can play by himself for longer and longer. John continues to love to stand, with our help of course, which I imagine is why the Exersaucer and doorway jumper are such big hits. He is getting better and better at picking stuff up with his hands and putting things in his mouth (everything seems to go in his mouth these days). Just recently he has started grabbing his legs so I imagine his feet are not far behind. He likes to talk to us and will respond with babels, shrikes and laughs when we answer him.
He has picked up four states (VA, MD, IA & IN) and the District of Columbia in just 4 short months and will be picking up his fifth and sixth when we head to Arkansas next week to hang out with his cousins at the lake and when we go to Texas at the end of the month.
David and I are so grateful for our happy, sweet and healthy baby and cannot wait to see what the next days, weeks and months hold!
