Christmas Morning

We had a very nice Christmas here in Belgium with friends.  We felt very loved and spoiled by all of our wonderful gifts.  John David had a rough start on Christmas morning.  He usually wakes up and has his milk in front of the TV.  However, on Christmas morning we didn't let him come out right away, hence the crying at the start of the video.  Although, as soon as he saw all of his new toys he was a super happy boy (as you will see from the video. 

Thanksgiving in Copenhagen

We went to visit our very good friends, the Byrne's, at their new post in Copenhagen, Denmark for Thanksgiving. Despite the cold and rainy weather we had a great time.  It was so nice being able to catch up and John David had a blast playing with their three boys.

We visited Hamlet's Castle which was beautiful. Unfortunately, we got there just as it was closing so we didn't get to go inside.

John David spent a lot of time in the stroller...he was such a trooper


If there is one thing that Copenhagen has a lot of its bikes. These people bike everywhere.


David and Dan took the kids to the park on the bikes. I was a little nervous (and I think David was too) because it had been a few years since David had been on a bike.

We had so much fun spending time with our friends...can't wait to do it again soon.

When Dad comes home....

John David gets so excited when his Dad comes home every night. As soon as he hears David's keys in the door he runs over to greet him. We thought you would enjoy a look...

Fall Fun

Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks. Fall has to be one of my favorite times of year, especially in Brussels. The trees are so beautiful right now and the weather hasn't turned cold and rainy (yet).

John David went as a Cowboy's player for Halloween because his mother kind of dropped the ball on finding him a proper costume.


This weekend we took a trip to this amazing playground.  It is better suited for bigger kids but John David had a big time playing on the swings and going down the slide.

John David got to carve his first pumpkins this year. He wasn't quite sure at first and kept trying to put the "guts" back inside. However, he loved to see them all lit up.




Tuesday was a national holiday so David had the day off. It was absolutely beautiful so we took John David on a walk in the forest so he could play in the leaves.

Apple Picking Time

Saturday we took John David to a small town in French speaking Belgium to pick apples. It was such a great morning. John David loved running through the orchard and could not pick enough apples. He loves to eat apples. As soon as he started to see the apples on the trees he would run up to one and say "mmmmmm"! It could not have been any cuter.

We had such a wonderful time being back in Austin. Words cannot describe how much David loves being in Austin. I have to say it is a pretty cool place, but for David it is practically a religious experience. We loved all the amazing food (Trudy’s enchilada’s, Migas at Maudie’s, Saltlick…..total bliss) and catching up with family and friends. David even got to put those season tickets to good use for the first UT game.

John David had a big time playing in Gigi and Dandy's backyard. Being able to run in the grass barefoot was quite a treat! He especially loved playing in the sprinkler, pool and water table.
