11 Months

Today John David turned 11 months.  He has made significant progress this month and is quickly turning into a little boy.  He is getting pretty confident in feeding himself and continues to expand his menu.  This has made mealtimes so much easier for Mom because for the most part he feeds himself lunch and at least half of his dinner, with his hands of course we have not gotten the hang of a spoon.

John David continues to be a happy and healthy baby boy.  We have started to see his independence more than ever.  He is very content playing with himself and trying to figure stuff out on his own.  When David and I show him how to do something he watches very intently and focuses on trying to copy our actions.  He loves playing with various Tupperware containers and knows how to fit the lid on each one and how to put smaller ones inside of larger ones.  John has also learned how to roll a ball back and forth with David or I.  He likes to throw his balls and chase after them as they roll around on the tile or hardwood floors.
John is also getting more confident on his feet.  He has walked 4 steps from the coffee table to the entertainment center on multiple occasions.  He usually takes one or two steps and then drops down to his knees or hands.  He is closer and closer to full blown walking and I think that once he gets a little more confident and a little more stability he is going to be on his way.

We started attending a new local playgroup this past month.  The group is an English speaking play/moms group that meets in our neighborhood on Thursday mornings.  There is a different dynamic at these groups since it is such a diverse group but we have finally met some little boys John David's age that he has enjoyed playing with.  It is also nice to get advice and encouragement from other women who are living in Belgium temporary.  Many of these women have lived here for many years so they have provided some great insight.  It is so much easier for us especially with all the support we receive from the Embassy and the readily available items from the states via the Commissary and the DPO.

This is a grumpy John David because I wouldn't let him play with my iPhone

I get into everything...

When John David refuses to take a nap during the day I bring him into the bathroom with me while I take a shower.  As I have said before the toilet is in a separate room over here so it is fairly sanitary.  He thought it would be a good idea to climb into our empty laundry basket and his mother couldn't help herself but grab the camera before helping him.  I know you can judge me...
