Update....

We found out last week that a nice young couple will be renting our house for the next year starting on October 1. This is such a relief and we could not be happier to get this taken care of before we leave for Athens. It will be so nice to have someone else paying our mortgage!

Speaking of Athens from talking to our sponsor Vicki the fires are really as bad as they look on TV. The Greeks are just not prepared for anything of that magnitude. Hopefully they will get it under control soon.

My last day of work is this Friday August 31st. I am sad to leave but excited for what is in front of us. I am fondly referring to August 31st as the first day of my retirement. Unfortunately David seems to think I need to get a job for some reason. Once we get on our feet in Athens I will work to find a job at the Embassy. They have lots of opportunities for spouses and work hard to accommodate so I am not too worried. Luckily I have accumulated a lot of vacation time in my two years with the federal government so I will be on the Navy payroll until October 20th!

New Contact Information

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to pass on some new contact information.

David and I just signed up for Vonage (I am sure you have seen the commercials). It is basically a phone line that runs over your Internet. What it allows us to do, is take our same phone number to Athens and make and receive calls just like we would in the US. We have a Virginia number and you will be able to call us just like we were still in Virginia while we are in Athens and we will be able to call you all as well. This means no international long distance charges just one flat fee we pay per month for unlimited calls and no addtional charge to you. It is really remarkable!

We have it setup now at our house in Virginia so feel free to try it out. Once we leave for Athens our cell phones will no longer work so this will be most convenant way to get a hold of us but feel free to call our cell phones until we depart in October!

Once we are in Athens feel free to call whenever but try to be mindful of the 7 hour time difference! :)

Departure Date

David and I booked out departure date to Athens yesterday! We are leaving DC the afternoon of October 10 and arriving in Athens the morning of October 11. More to follow....
