Memorial Day Weekend

The town of Vienna, just down the road from us, had a festival (Viva Vienna) this weekend and David and I were craving some good fair food so we loaded John up in the stroller and went on Saturday.  The vendors were not setup yet so we ended up just having some lunch including ribs, a corn dog and a funnel cake (I totally blew my diet).  It was a nice day, overcast and not too hot.  Later that night we took John out for Mexican food, though he did not partake.

On Sunday we stayed around home and took John David on a walk in the morning and then to Mass in the evening followed by a quiet evening at home.  John has been sleeping through the night now from about 8:30/9:00 pm until 6:00/6:30 am, which is absolutely wonderful.  On the weekdays it allows Mom and Dad to get that much more sleep and on the weekends it allows us to get some time just the two of us.  On Monday, Mom got up and ran in the morning before it got too hot and then spent the afternoon relaxing and napping with John David while Dad studied.  Late afternoon we decided to take off for Leesburg, VA. About 10 miles from our house, Leesburg is where David first lived with his parents after he was born.  We love Leesburg.  It has a cute historic downtown and  a very small town feel.  Everything was pretty much closed by the time we got there but it was nice to walk around and get some fresh air.  We also indulged ourselves, in honor of the holiday, and stopped at Mom's Apple Pie Company (http://www.momsapplepieco.com/) for a little treat.  They are actually famous for their berry pies (despite the name) and their blackberry pie has been featured in Southern Living magazine, but they were all out of blackberry so I had a raspberry instead and David's cannot say no to a cream pie so he had a piece of chocolate cream.  It was a fabulous way to cap off a wonderful weekend!

Hope you all had wonderful weekends wherever you are!
